First Rodeo: Lily Fitts shares her ‘firsts’

Boston based artist Lily Fitts is one of the most compelling new voices in music. A natural storyteller, her work has drawn support from Noah Kahan, The Lumineers and Zach Bryan. Lily is returning to the UK for a string of shows this summer, so we caught up with her to find out more about the moments that shaped her as an artist.

First Song You Wrote: The first song I wrote was called “Different” when I was 11 years old. I wrote it about how it’s okay to not always feel like you always fit in, and that you should embrace your true and authentic self.

First Live Performance: If you don’t count singing The Climb at my middle school graduation, then my first live performance was when I sang “Oklahoma City” on stage with Zach Bryan in 2023.

First Official Concert: The first official concert that I ever attended was Taylor Swift, Speak Now tour when I was 10 years old. I grew up absolutely idolizing her and I remember how magical and inspiring it was seeing her perform. It’s a show I will never forget, even 15 years later.

First Festival: The first festival I ever played was at Loving Life festival in Charlotte NC. I’ll never forget my family and friends traveling from near and far, as well as all of the people that showed up early to come support me playing the first slot on a Sunday morning. It was so special.

First Headline Show: My first headline show was in London last summer. I remember feeling so grateful and so shocked that people who live so far away listen and connect with my music. It truly was one of the most special days I’ve had, and one that I will never forget.

Lily Fitts performs in Bristol, Manchester and London in August and September. Tickets are on sale now, here.
