This is less of a live review and more of a love letter to Kelly Jones, the minuscule man from Wales who swans around stage with a swagger and sexiness literally nobody else from the Brit-pop era can do today. He lives and breathes music, enjoying every moment on stage, developing each song with acoustic versions or extended outros. He’s a music man, he’s absolutely class, he’s also bloody beautiful, but he lives and breathes music.
Kelly Jones is melt in yer mouth stuff. The darkest hair and eyes you’ll ever see, he’s hypnotic, which probably explains the several bras thrown at him during this set.
All-in-all, Stereophonics are just a top top band. No gimmicks or tricks, no arrogance or arguments. They’ve written their fair share of huge rock songs over the past 20-odd years and now, they’re flaunting them all in front of crowds 8 to 10 thousand strong.
