First Rodeo: Claudia Fenoglio shares her ‘firsts’

Since her debut EP in 2023, Claudia Fenoglio has become a staple in the northern queer music scene, with her unique, entrancing live performances capturing attention. Whilst previously based in Leeds, and building up an impressive following, Claudia Fenoglio has also recently moved to Manchester (the greatest city in the UK).

Recently, Claudia released her latest single, ‘I didn’t mean to do that!’, so we sat down with her to find out more about how she got to this point.

First Song You Wrote:
My first ‘official’ song I wrote is a song called ‘Waste’. It was recorded at home and you can definitely hear my mum and sister talking and moving around on the record after we told them to be quiet!

First Live Performance:
I used to perform with my dad and his band around Cheshire. So, I think my first performance was at the Nantwich Jazz Festival and we sang American Honey by Lady A. I think I was around 12.

First Official Concert:
My first concert that I attended was The Saturdays at Wolverhampton Civil Hall lol. My favourite was Una because she played guitar.

First Festival:
The first festival I played was WIMIN festival in Liverpool. I played with some lovely friends of mine and it was just a cute day celebrating women and non binary artists!

First Headline Show:
My first headline show was a co- headline with an amazing artist called Charlotte Hackett. We played at the Vinyl Whistle in Leeds which is a really cool vinyl shop and gig space. We had both just released new music so it was so fun to celebrate with everyone.
