A Stone’s Throw Festival has announced its return to Newcastle’s coastline for its second edition this May, and there’s a myriad of exciting names to look forward to. Tynemouth and North Shields will play host to big names and ones to watch alike in the follow up to 2022’s event, which formed the first North East coastal music trail and saw the likes of coffee shops and working men’s clubs transformed into their own live music oasis.
Indie legends Sundara Karma are set to top the bill this year, fresh off the release of their latest album, Better Look Next Time, in October.  Looking ahead to their trip up north, the band said: “The Newcastle date on our headline tour at the end of last year was definitely one of the best, so we’re very excited to be back in the North East headlining A Stone’s Throw festival at the end of May!”
They’re joined by the likes of Bilk, Gengahr, Pip Blom, Downtown Koyoto, Arthur Hill and Teenage Dads amongst others who will descend upon the nine venues involved this year. In a truly innovative event, the festival will take over these unique spaces and even involves an open top bus route between the venues.
Founder Anthony Thompson said of the event: “We’re delighted to be bringing our flagship tastemaker event, A Stone’s Throw Festival, back to the beautiful Newcastle coastline this May 25th! Delivering the event in 2022 was a huge deal for us and by doing so, I believe we managed to establish the event on a national scale. This led us to many new ideas and exciting conversations regarding how we can continue to develop and execute a music discovery event worthy of peoples’ hard-earned cash. This all said, we aim to smash it out the park in 2024 and ensure everybody has the best possible time!”
