Picture this. An open-top ride in a Cadillac through the night-time streets of a European capital – White and yellow lights reflecting off the top of the beige bonnet. You’ve got a cream cowboy hat and leopard print snakeskin boots on, and a toothpick in your mouth – moving up and down as you tongue it. It’s cool. Bloody cool.

The record moves with a swagger and speed that slowly struts, hips and arms swaying in time. The album waltzes but never pants, cuts shapes but never flaunts itself in a quiet-but-elusive brilliance that I’ve only rarely come across in music. It’s a bit like watching Mick Jagger do a 10k I imagine, or seeing the late Lou Reed fixing himself some breakfast on a marble kitchen top. Jokes aside though, it’s one of those styles that seems innate not created. A natural and organic feeling that instantly gives the album an original and authentic presence.

We don’t just love this because it has a cowboy on the front – though that is a positive in our minds for sure – it’s just an excellently smooth release. It’s like some kind of hot chocolate for the soul, smooth, rich and goes down a treat.

Haiku Review:
A tip of the hat
To the cool golden cowboy,
He’s pulled it off well,
