Bringing the heat from down under, DZ Deathrays stunned at YES.
DZ turned the Pink Room into a scene from Scott Pilgrim, with the amps blazing out cartoon notes that spiralled through the crowd, and in their mesmerising green lights, you were just awaiting a dragon to emerge from the drumhead.
Donning long locks, the trio smashed and thrashed their way into the crowd’s hearts, while the crowd themselves smashed and thrashed into each other. After months at home in my small village, I’d honestly mourned a good mosh pit, and at YES, DZ quenched that thirst. With each lyric the Aussie punks sang, it came bellowing back out the lungs of their adoring fans, filling the room with an atmosphere so electric, it could have powered the whole of Manchester.
