Track of the Week: Rosie Carney – tidal wave
Rosie Carney returns with a gentle dose of melancholy. This contemplative folk tune glides along so effortlessly, you can almost hear ocean waves in the distance. It’s beautiful. Go get lost in yourself for a few minutes. It’s good for the soul.
Also new this week…
Yumi and the Weather – It’s All In My Head
Need a pick me up this morning? Here’s a mug full of noise-punk for ya. The perfect way to throw you into the weekend, right on your ass. Huzzah!
Death Cab For Cutie – Roman Candles
When my favourite band releases a new song, it goes without saying I’ll listen to it a dozen or so times, uninterrupted. The fuzzed out, digital noise contrasts perfectly with Gibbard’s distinctly light melodies. This is as perfect a two minutes as you’ll hear all day.
Shygirl – firefly
Little bit of everything, this week. Shygirl’s ‘firefly’ delivers a slightly atypical slice of R&B. This may not be your radio’s cup of tea… but it sure is ours.
Pale Waves – Lies
Viva la goth-pop. Always good to hear from Pale Waves. Their Billie Eilish esque attitude still blends superbly with their Taylor Swift caliber melodies. Good luck getting this one out of your head.
Cathy Jain – UFO
Coincidence that Cathy Jain’s new single ‘UFO’ comes out the same week a public hearing on ‘unexplained aerial sightings’ is happening here in the US? I don’t think so. The truth is out there. And if this is the soundrack, we’re in good hands.
Near Beer – Yelling at a Dog
Near Bear wants you to consider this an anti-yelling-at-dogs-song. Good. We’re fans of dogs here at The Rodeo. We’re also fans of this song. Wouldn’t want to have to write it off because of anti-canine rhetoric. Besides, any chance to validate my thirties’ anxiety is a chance I’ll take.
