Tenderness personified, Laurel delivered a special set. Her
voice sounded totally authentic, like it had been pulled straight off the
record, triumphant and gritty. She was confident, strutting through her set
with sass and panache, batting away any rude talkers at the back confidently, innocently asking
if they were talking to her, receiving a laugh and a cheer from the rest of the
crowd spellbound by her set. ‘Life Worth Living’, a stomping pop tune with a bluesy
tint, proved to be the set highlight, whilst deeper cuts were a welcome
surprise for two fans, clearly long-time members of the Laurel fan club.
