NOW 82 is a reminder of Bradley Wiggins’ side burns

It’s the summer of 2012. The summer of fun, laughter and sun. We had hot weather, the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, we hosted the Olympics and Bradley Wiggins won the Tour de France. It was the summer of opportunities, promise and good times. It was also the season of Now 82, the accompanying soundtrack to the best summer EVER.

Kicking off with ‘We Are Young’, reminding us that we’re gonna set this summer on fire and how great it is to be alive, before moving on to some absolute classics, Carly Rae Jephson’s ‘Call Me Maybe’ and Maroon 5’s ‘Payphone’ being absolute staples for the summer. Learning the rap became all you cared about as you tried to impress your friends by convincing them that not only is it incredibly difficult, but you are most definitely the next big rapper (move over Stormzy).

Then, you hit a slightly more solemn and reflective note as, despite this being the best summer of your life, you’ve gotta appreciate things, y’know? Katy Perry’s ‘Part of Me’ makes you realise that you should never compromise on your values whilst Mraz’s ‘I Won’t Give Up’ reminds you to do just that.

Ending the album you have the ultimate feel-good song of the summer. The song of the Diamond Jubilee and one that makes you feel proud to be a Brit, if you’re a pensioner that is; ‘Sing’ by Gary Barlow.

Ahh, the summer of 2012. A summer you can’t, and won’t, ever forget. Everyone just came together. Not only did the weather get warmer and the nights get longer, but life itself got that little bit better. And NOW 82 was with us the entire way, serving as the perfect companion to the perfect summer.
