Is another band coming out of Hull? Must be City of Culture 2019, not 2017… FEVER signed to Blossoms’ Very Clever record label this year and released their first single ‘Jungle Man’. We had a quick one with ’em about it.
Introduce yourselves for us firstly…
James Harrod, Mitchell Capes, Charley May and Joe Gray.
Which was the most unexpected battle on Twitter for you guys? Nickelback v Trump or Rebekah Vardy v Coleen Rooney?
Trump and Nickelback, although it turns out Coleen Rooney is an absolute genius!
Tell us something really interesting about you, that isn’t to do with music.
Mitchell (our lead guitarist) genuinely didn’t know the alphabet until last year, I got him to sing it until he finally learnt it. It wasn’t as funny though once he’d actually got it…
What’s your karaoke song?
Mitchell does a good ‘Take On Me’ by A-Ha, but not as good as his version of the alphabet…
You’ve got a new video out, tell us about the process of making it and the ideas behind it?
We have! It was recorded in one of our local pubs called ‘The Polar Bear’ and it’s where Joe our drummer works. We’re surprisingly happy with it! We just wanted to do something simple and straight to the point. I don’t think you can beat a straight-up live performance video, especially on a bar staff budget…
The new song is called ‘Jungle Man’, what things would you take to the jungle to survive for a week?
A portable DVD player and the Bear Grylls collection!
What were you doing exactly an hour ago?
Eating a disappointing Big Mac.
There are a few decent bands coming from Hull at the moment, what’s the scene like to be a part of?
There is indeed! It’s great. Everyone knows everyone and there’s some great undiscovered talent in Hull. I’d definitely recommend checking out ‘The Sesh’ & ‘The Humber Street Sesh’.
What can we expect new from FEVER?
The New Year! Lots of music and shows being planned for both pre and post touring with Blossoms in March!
You can listen to FEVER on Spotify.
