Lottery Winners

Lottery Winners keep us together with new charity single

The four-piece indie group are raising money for mental health charities.

Originally meant to be embarking on their biggest ever tour right now, Lottery Winners, from Leigh have, like everyone else’s, been put on hold. But lockdown hasn’t stopped Thom Rylance, Robert Lally, Katie Lloyd, and Joe Singleton from being productive.

They’ve released a new standalone single, titled ‘Love Will Keep Us Together’. This is released in collaboration with Beelieve, a campaign being run by Greater Manchester’s mayor, Andy Burnham.

It’s an undeniably upbeat song with a message of hope that mirrors the kind of challenges we’re facing at this moment in time. Issues of loneliness, stress, anxiety and other mental health struggles are more prevalent than ever, but this song reminds us that we’re not alone.

I think the message is more prevalent now than ever.

Profits from ‘Love Will Keep Us Together’ will go directly to Beelieve, which is a group of mental health charities who reside in the Greater Manchester Area. These charities are helping people cope with the emotional and psychological distress that the current pandemic and lockdown is liable to cause.

“I’ve been watching Lottery Winners for years and what they’re doing by donating their profits to Beelive is an amazing gesture.” Said Andy Burnham. “However, I’m not surprised they’ve done this because this is the kind of people they are. I hope the public will get behind them and buy their single, especially as they’re launching during this difficult time when they can’t promote it in the way they normally would. I wish them every success with it”.

The band’s frontman, Thom Rylance, said “Although this song was recorded a few months ago, I think the message is more prevalent now than ever. It’s a song of positivity about the power of connection during bleak times. We wanted to donate all of the proceeds for the single and the merchandise to Beelieve in Greater Manchester, because we think what they’re doing is really important.”

The track can be downloaded and is also being given a vinyl release on the new date for Record Store Day, 20th June. If you’d like to donate to Beelieve, you can do so through a direct donation button on the band’s Spotify and Facebook pages.

This also comes with a number of limited-edition merchandise that can be purchased from the band’s store. This merch features the track’s artwork, a reworking of Joy Division’s classic Unknown Pleasures cover. All of the profits from these sales will also go to Beelieve.

To support their self-titled debut album, which released in March, they’ve rescheduled their headline tour to October and November 2020. Stretching over 12 dates and spanning from the north of England to the south, even the lockdown isn’t stopping 2020 from being their busiest year yet.
