Track of the Week:
HighSchool – Sirens
I still can’t get over the fact HighSchool aren’t from the North West of England. Such is the modern world though, music travels. Therefore, influences travel, resulting in a melting pot of bands taking inspiration from all across the world. One of the best new bands we’ve heard in a long time, HighSchool are back and continue to deliver.
Also new this week…
Alex Amor – dare you
Alex Amor channels the alt-pop of Lorde on this new number. Trumpets interfere subtly, just another feather in her bow. ‘dare you’ shows off all of Alex’s talents, and will be a firm favourite when she finally gets to play live later this year.
Orchards – Leave Us Here, We’re Fine
Effervescent, thrashing indie pop that doesn’t give you a moment to feel down. A complete contrasts to this week’s grey skies, it’s great to have Orchards back.
Kaleidoscope Dream – The Northern Belle
Big country vibes from this one. The vocal makes it very easy to get on board with, too. Just listen, sit back and enjoy.
Penelope Isles – Iced Gems
This isn’t an ode to those tiny bags of sweets that graced every top tier packed lunch in primary school, or at least I don’t think it is. Great, now I’m craving them – the shitty, sugar delights. Anyway, this new one from Penelope Isles is typically dreamy and a lovely amuse bouche for their newly announced album.
