An icy night on the Quayside cobbles would have been a shock to the system for the Madrid-natives, but the weather wasn’t the only coldness they had to deal with. A stuttering start caused by technical problems, broken strings and a quiet crowd brought Hinds back down to reality after a successful year. They had to work hard to lift to crowd, their half-choreographed-half-spontaneous dance moves bringing only a smile to people’s faces. Unparalleled energy, constant charisma, it’s what you expect from one of rock’s most hardworking bands, but they seemed unsettled by the lack of moshing and movement. Eventually, they sucked it up and incited the crowd themselves, singer Carlotta Cosials jumping down from stage and onto the bar. This was certainly a learning curve for the quartet.
