“We’re Black Honey, welcome aboard”, Izzy B
tells the crowd before launching into disco-stomper ‘Midnight’, a fitting
finale to a special night which saw Black Honey play a perfectly crafted
setlist of new and old. The setting is perfect. A disco ball hangs above, neon-eyes
flicker behind, an image of Alabama Whitman (Patricia Arquette’s True Romance
character and Izzy B’s inspiration) covers one wall. The quartet’s on-stage
presence is there for all to see, more confident that ever, strutting through
the set. The new material relieves Izzy of guitar duties, meaning she’s free to
stomp around, control the crowd and dance as if nobody’s watching. The only way
is up. Watch out world, Black Honey’s coming for you.
