Ballerinas. Lightsabers. Costume changes. A Primadonna girl. A queen, a goddess, a Greek goddess, an icon. She’s been missing for a while but on her return, Marina reminded us why we fell in love with her in the first place. Her knack for a pulsating pop beat and anthemic chorus is charming, her angelic voice ethereal, otherworldly, pure, distinct, clear, you’re constantly smiling in disbelief.
The backdrop is always changing. Lights are always flashing. bright colours one minute, stunning images of our beautiful earth the next, each backdrop complementing the song perfectly. Bright colours represent ‘Love’, darkness represents ‘Fear’, Marina’s returned with a concept, a concept she’s determined to stretch the boundaries of and turn into an all-encompassing art project.
But the dancing, the production, the backdrop, the videos, everything that bound together to create this piece of theatre never once took your attention away from Marina herself. The Primadonna girl is back and my word did we miss her.
