It’s different. Jumpy, poppy, funky. Happy and sad at the same time. Well-crafted and well written. Jack Bourke’s baritone vocals see Morrissey meet Ricky Wilson, perfect for this sombre and humorous look at modern consumerism and faulty aspirations. I was crying at track 2, with ‘Visions of Graceland’ and it’s rolling, calming and soothing melody.

This album could soundtrack a long summer road trip, maybe along Melbourne’s busy Eastern Freeway, which Bourke eludes to in the third track. The tunes carry on in this carefree and relaxed manner with sounds reminiscent of Britpop and Madchester. Bourke’s vocals are the stand out feature. He’s the bloke in that rom-com that makes the girl fall madly in love with him, and who could blame her.

The record gets repetitive by the end however, and eventually breaks down on the side of the highway, leaving little to be desired. But overall a good, solid record from the Aussie rockers.
