After recently embarking on a successful UK tour, we asked rising artist Noah James about some of his firsts in music.
First Song You Wrote
“Set Free” was the first song I wrote. It was inspired by my faith and by the story of American bull rider Lane Frost. I’ve always connected with the idea of staying true to who you are and what you believe in, and that really became the heart of the song.
First Live Performance
My first live performance was probably a little different from most artists! When I turned 18, I started going live on TikTok from my bedroom back home in Louisiana. It was crazy to sit there with my guitar and suddenly have tens of thousands of people from all over the world listening to me sing. I still go live today because it’s one of my favourite ways to stay connected with everyone who supports my music.
First Official Concert
My first proper show was at a local bar back home in Baton Rouge called The Station. A bunch of my friends and family came out, so it felt like the first time I really got to share what I’d been working on with everyone in person. It was an amazing night and one I’ll always remember.
First Festival
My first real festival experience was actually over here in Europe! I played multiple C2C (Country to Country) events earlier this year, which was mind-blowing. I’m a kid from Louisiana, so travelling all the way to the UK, Germany and the Netherlands and hearing people sing along to my songs was something I’ll never forget.
First Headline Show
I was lucky enough to headline the legendary Texas Club in my hometown of Baton Rouge earlier this year. So many country legends have played that stage over the years — George Strait, Garth Brooks, Alan Jackson and a whole lot more. Growing up in Louisiana and then getting to stand on that stage with my hometown crowd in front of me was a pretty special full-circle moment.
Noah’s upcoming EP, Nothin Rich is out October 9th. And his new single What’s The Reason is out now. His US tour supporting Waylon Wyatt kicks off Oct 13th.
