We documented our stay at the Hotel Diablo, let’s just say it wasn’t pleasant.

The devilish stay at Machine Gun Kelly’s (MGK) newest venture allows guests into the estranged rooms of his memories. Down the corridors, we see a darker side than in his past albums – there’s definitely an emotional evolution blossoming in the wallpaper cracks, which doesn’t quite ooze “enjoy your stay.” This is the Hotel Diablo (“devil” in Spanish) after all.

In the rooms, distorted vocals play like ghosts haunting his bars. As they pass your ears you shiver in time to ivory keys. Through shattered windows, light kaleidoscopes in, warming your outlook and respect towards MGK. It seems like he’s airing his demons and putting it all on the line lyrically, in the Chateau de Kelly.

But this experience feels eerily familiar, like past stays in Binge and Bloom. The menus similarly lack flavour, and even though the lyrics were raw, I wanted it medium rare. The ocean views, as requested, show the same flows that we’ve seen in rap for years, but Kelly is not reinventing the wheel here. Instead, the whole stay is marred by blandness. The trip to Hotel Diablo can be perfect for a dark night, but in the morning, I just think you’ll want to give back the key.

Haiku Review
Hotel Hell for Kelly,
Ramsay would slate it’s Lamb Sauce,
Where bloody is it?
