Pacific have put a hell of a shift in

Everyone is still a bit hungover from festival season and we still haven’t unpacked the last tent. Except the boys from Pacific, who played just about every stage you can think of and dropped new music. We managed to chat to them in between shows.

July and August were pretty wild for you, weren’t they? It looked like it was just back-to-back festivals (kudos on enduring the weather). How’s the post-fest comedown?
Yeah, festival season was mega. Obviously, Y Not Festival was a big highlight – we were really lucky to play on the Saturday before the weather turned. It was a glorious gig and possibly our favourite of the year so far, the energy at the Saloon Stage was electric. We really loved Blackthorn Festival and Goose Green, too. Both had insane vibes and everyone was in good spirits.
We’re actually back in the studio next month, so that should beat the post-fest blues.
We’re crying inside though, really.

You won the public vote to play at YNot Festival this year – well deserved and ‘effin incredible! Between that and Dot to Dot Festival, has it all been a bit of a beautiful blur?
We were absolutely buzzed to have won the public vote. It really was a proud moment for us, and it was a festival we’ve wanted to play for a while. We’ve made a conscious decision to step up all the activity this year, from music releases to generally being active in the industry, so it’s definitely felt like a blur –
but when we stop & look back at this year’s highlights, it’s been totally worth it.

Gotta bring piano back to modern indie.

Your headlining tour was a bit of a knockout. Was it a different dynamic from when you’ve supported the likes of Wheatus and Razorlight?
For sure! Playing our own dates is always a different vibe to a support, but equally as exciting. Supporting the guys from Razorlight and Wheatus was great – you get to see how different everyone’s approach is to their own live shows. It’s hard to beat a packed crowd in a venue that have turned up solely for you, though.

You seemed to stick around for the majority of the festivals you guys were at this month. Is local music supporting local music something you’re passionate about?
Haha indeed we do! We probably posted too many late-night IG stories eh? We’re definitely big on supporting other acts and local music. They’re all an absolute laugh so it makes for a great night. But yeah, it’s great to know each other in the industry & help each other out where possible too. There are some great acts making waves at the moment, we’re really loving what The Blinders are doing, as well as Saytr Play and Kashmere in Manchester. Not very local – but Giant Rooks are smashing it.

‘Bottle This Love’ has been out for a little while now – how’ve you found the response?
Is it the sound of more things to come?

We were really proud of how ‘Bottle This Love’ landed, and the reception was great for us. It’s actually led pretty nicely to ‘Time to Forget’ – the song we’ve literally just released. It’s always mind-blowing to receive such a positive response in the first couple of days. We’re really looking forward to seeing how it does from here.
If you listen to all 4 singles from this year, you can hear how they all complement each other, whilst also giving something new. The next couple of tracks we record will be taking our piano-infused, sound and continuing to run with it. Gotta bring piano back to modern indie.

What’s the plan for the rest of the year?
No plans on slowing down! Our headline date in Manchester at Night People is right around the corner.
We’re back in the studio next month to record a couple more tunes. We also have some new dates in the diary for later this year that we’re really excited about, which we can hopefully announce in the next couple of weeks. And we’re sure more will crop up also – we’ll keep you in the loop!
