THE WEEKLY ROUND-UP (17/05/19)

Cover Artist: Stef Chura

Mattiel – Je Ne Me Connais Pas
The Atlanta cowgirl is changing it up a little with this French inspired track. The riff is classic Mattiel, with a western twist, whilst the chorus is, as always, catchy, jagged, raw, imperfectly perfect and a joy to listen to. There ain’t many better at writing short, fast, spicy pop songs like her.

Stef Chura – Sweet Sweet Midnight
It’s Stef Chura’s ability to sing so softly, so nonchalantly as the guitars build up into a raucous, gritty roar that makes her so special. As a song-writer, she’s one of the best out there right now and ‘Sweet Sweet Midnight’ proves us right once again.

Omar Apollo – So Good
It’s a funky little thing this track. Here’s your warning: do not play whilst trying to get anything done. You’ll be up in front of the mirror faster than you know it, hairbrush in hand, throwing some shapes without a care in the world.

Trash Kit – Horizon
An intricate riff, layered and textured. Brass instruments beep in the background, like a car stuck in traffic. A vocal that is verging on spoken-word, Trash Kit mark their territory and make their statement.

Eysa – Everything
Haunting, creeping, taking control. Eysa’s ‘Everything’ is a dystopian world in control of everything and everyone. It takes your soul and dumps it in the river – in a good way of course.
