Loyle Carner has released his new single ‘You Don’t Know’, the second release following his critically-acclaimed, and Mercury-Prize-nominated album, Yesterdays Gone.
Loyle Carner, put simply, is just a really lovely boy. Seen by many as the ‘people’s musician’, Carner has spent the last year focusing on his cooking school, Chilli Con Carner, which offers opportunities to children with ADHD to learn how to cook. Whilst his love for his mother is one of the many reason we all adore him so much. On Yesterday’s Gone, he samples a conversation with her where she’s telling him off for swearing (how adorable?) whilst on ‘You Don’t Know’, he’s roped her into featuring on the video. He’s a cook, he loves his mum, he’s talented – surely there’s something wrong with him?
With help from Rebel Kleff and Kiko Bun, he’s released yet another infectious and contagious tune that transcends you back to summer. Concealed with smooth hip hop vibes and a slick sound.
The accompanying video shows Loyle Carner watching over his mum Jean Carner as she goes on a continuous run of dates with some of Carner’s heroes, including writer and poet, Benjamin Zephaniah and Louis Bhose, who directed the music video himself.
The great thing about Loyle Carner is that he’s not only ahead of his game in the Brit-Hop scene with sheer skill and undeniable talent, but he is also a really, really, really lovely boy.
The new single is released ahead of his forthcoming sold out tour – check out the video.
