OUR RECORD STORE DAY 2019 PICKS

Record Store Day is the perfect opportunity to celebrate the indie stores that keep music alive. They are the heartbeat of every great music and once a year you get the chance to queue up overnight, spend triple figures in cash, cash you definitely don’t have let us remind you, in order to purchase some exclusive wax, making it all totally worth it. To help you along your way, we’ve picked out our must-buys from this year’s list.

Courtney Barnett – Everybody Here Hates You 12”
We love Courtney here at The Rodeo and you should too. This is a brand new track exclusively for RSD pressed on a big fat 12″, just like the olden days.

Soccer Mommy – For Young Hearts LP
This album is just good, there’s no two-ways about it. Whether it’s actually an album is questionable. Maybe more a collection of demos or a long-as-fuck EP, but either way, there’s some cracking tunes on it including ‘Henry’ and ‘Blood Honey’, two tracks that are bound to make you tear up (in a good way of course).

Say Sue Me – We’ve Sobered Up 12”
This Korean outfit are quickly becoming a Rodeo favourite. It’s an Eastern take on sounds made famous by The Beach Boys and other surf-style rockers, so expand your horizons and pick up their 12″.

Our Girl – Live At St. Pancras Church 12”
Our Girl are just really very impressive and their debut album last year proved that. But what you may not know, is that they are also really really good on stage, live, and this 12″ live LP is your chance to see that we are 110% correct (as per usual).

Pete Doherty & The Puta Madres 7”
Doherty is somehow still alive and kicking, well, just about anyway, and he’s got a new band with him. He and The Puta Madres’ debut single, ‘Who’s Been Having You Over?’ is getting pressed with a lovely B-side. For fans of The Libertines, or pretty much any fan of decent music, this is a must.

Sam Fender – Play God 7”
The Geordie wonderkid can seemingly do no wrong right now. A Brit’s Critics Choice Award victory and the announcement of a debut album set his year off to a flyer and now his single, ‘Play God’, is getting pressed on wax. Cop it before this lad goes big.

Julien Baker – Red Door 7”
Julien Baker warmed our hearts with a collaboration with The National’s Matt Berninger last year whilst her new girl-band, boygenius, a collaboration with Phoebe Bridgers and Lucy Dacus, released a record and my word was it something special. She’s only releasing a 7″ this RSD, but you should certainly treat yourself to an amuse bouche of Baker’s talents.
