APE: BAKAR

Offering something different, Bakar’s hip-hop-meets-indie-rock provided respite from the previous hour of gruelling punk.
Leather trousers and double-breasted blazer on, it was business as usual for
the hometown boy who in his final track, announced he’s the King of Camden, as
his crowd bowed down to salute him. The contrast between his bands rock’n’roll-meets-jazz
sound and his angsty, punk-ridden hip-hop ethos worked well. A big stage
and adoring crowd saw the main man feed off their energy, his limbs flying all
over the place, jumping down off stage into the crowd on multiple occasions,
throwing dance moves that didn’t match the music, but it didn’t matter. He was
lovin’ it, lovin’ it lovin’ it… And we were too. All hail the King of Camden.
