Pizzagirl – aka Liam Brown – is heading on a UK tour this month, including a stop at Manchester’s YES on November 27th.
YES is known for many things: the bright pink gig venue, the cheap beer, the New York-esque roof bar. But one of its most attractive attributes is its scrumptious pizza, served to order, made fresh, and costing pretty much nothing.
So, what better way to celebrate Pizzagirl’s upcoming concert at YES, than with his own pizza slice. Made by the man himself, the ‘First Timer’ contains pomegranate, mushrooms, salted ricotta and caramelised onions. He wanted it sweet, he got it sweet. Is it any good you ask? Well, the proof is in the pie.
After biting down on a slice, Liam managed to talk with his mouthful *tut* *tut* and give us his thoughts: “first flavour profile, it’s pretty sweet, pretty cheesy like myself. I give it a good 9 out of 10 – there’s always room for improvement.”
As you can see, Liam’s knows his stuff. He makes his music in what he calls ‘the beatzeria’, a workspace that releases one glorious and greasy cardboard box of sound after another. The result is “a sprinkle of yacht rock on a pop-rock emo base – with a few chunks of 90’s dance thrown in.”
After finishing off his slice at YES, and having a Rodeo photoshoot, Liam popped off to prepare for the European stint of his tour, packing his pants and socks for a flight to Germany next week. Bon Voyage!
